New Park Circle location!

There are a lot of exciting changes brewing at Second State: from a brand-new location in what may be the coolest spot in Charleston, to a dedicated roasting/training/production facility, and even renovations at our existing cafés.

In the coming months, you’ll notice small facelifts here and there—most immediately at our Shelmore location—but the biggest buzz is centered on our upcoming project at Storehouse Row in The Navy Yard Charleston.

This historic site once served as the Charleston Navy Yard, a major shipbuilding and repair hub from the early 1900s through World War II and beyond, with storehouses, administrative offices, and machinist schools supporting its operations. We’ll be opening in a 900-square-foot glass box surrounded by beautiful architecture & incredibly talented neighbors.

While we don’t yet have an official opening date, our goal is late 2025 or early 2026. If you’ve ever taken on a construction project, you know how timelines and permits can go! Don’t worry—we’ll keep you updated as things move forward and our timeline becomes more concrete.

Each Second State location is designed to reflect the character of its neighborhood. At Storehouse Row, we want to create a true community hub, capturing the camaraderie, craftsmanship, and local energy of this area. This space will be a flagship location just down the street from our Roastery & Lab — beautifully designed and built for sipping coffee in comfort.

So, what tasty drinks can you expect? All the Second State staples you know and love: single-origin pour-overs, homemade syrups, rotating featured drips, and single-origin espresso options. As we connect with the community, we’ll look to tailor offerings to the preferences of our regulars.

March 2026

Construction is speeding up and we are excited to announce that we should only be a few weeks away from working in the new space. We will take some time to train our teams in the space and allow them to acclimate to a new bar flow but we imagine soft opening by mid April! We are especially looking forward to hosting a unique evening service April 25th as a part of Grooving Violation's show at Navy Yard. More info to come soon!

End of April 2026 - May 2026

We are closing in on final touches and awaiting a Certificate of Occupancy for the space. In the coming weeks, will have some time with the doors open, unofficially, to give our team time to adjust to their new home for what we imagine will be a very, very busy first week in full operation. The official grand opening party is TBA. If you happen to stop by and our doors are open, please be kind with our staff and patient as we diligently prepare you incredible coffees - opening weeks at any business are always crazy and we want to make sure every drink is perfect and every guest is attended to. 

Expect to see new merch, equipment for home brewing, an incredibly beautiful espresso machine, and Navy Yard exclusive items - all tucked in a warm, inviting space. 

We will be focusing on an extended offerings menu with our house espresso, a decaf espresso, and a rotating 3rd special feature. With this new space, we are also returning an upgraded pour-over service to highlight some of our exemplary coffee producers.
